St. John’s Episcopal Church
We are glad that you’ve found our wee bit of the Internet, and hope that as you browse around you will get a sense of what life at St. John’s is like—our worship, ministries, and opportunities to grow in Christ. This is a great church, and we have a good time worshiping God, serving others in the name of Jesus, and working to deepen our relationship with him—individually and together. We value being engaged and curious in our faith here. No matter where you are in that path, you should find this to be an active house of prayer, worship, learning and service that will stimulate your mind and your soul. We also have pretty good potlucks. The liturgy of the Episcopal Church, found in the Book of Common Prayer, is the center of life at St. John’s. |
On Sundays we have three services of Holy Communion: a quiet service at 8am with no music (People who enjoy very traditional worship would probably find this service speaks to them most); at 10am we have a full-blown sung service with choir and organ and robust hymns. (While this service is also sort of traditional in form, we are very good at keeping it relaxed and reverential at the same time.) We also have a mid-week service in our chapel at 12:15pm that includes anointing with oil for healing. Rather than read about these, though, we hope you will come in person some time—whether you live here in North Iowa, or are visiting, or are en route to other places. May the Holy Trinity bless every step you take, and bless the ground beneath your feet!
