Waters of Hope

Millions of people live without clean water, so Waters of Hope is a way that Iowans can make a difference

The Project

To raise $150,000 – $200,000 for clean water projects like chlorinators and deep water wells for the people of Swaziland and the Sudan. This is the 2008 annual Bishop’s appeal.
The Bike Ride
May 1-11, 2008
This 1,000 mile bike ride around Iowa is a 10-day event which will culminate on Pentecost, to raise money for clean water projects and to teach about the Millennium Development Goals along with life saving goodness from clean water.

Bike Ride Brochure

WATERS OF HOPE RIDE AROUND IOWA May 1-May 10th. A 1,000 mile bike ride to raise funds for clean water for Swaziland and Sudan. Our Rector will ride partway (right now from Algona to Mason City with no problem. If training goes okay then Spirit Lake to Mason City. 113 miles. YIKES). Join her! Find out more at ~
http://www.iowaepiscopal.org/news/waters_of_hope.php

Or, if you prefer, consider sponsoring the Rector and all from St. John's who will ride with a contribution. Put a check in the altos basin, or a cash offering in an envelope, marked as "Waters of hope."

Plus, WATERS OF HOPE will be landing in Mason City on May 6th, and we will offer them support such as a nice meal in the parish hall, or lodging. Speak with Ann Papouchis or Wendy if you'd like to help. We will be looking for those who might let riders use showers at their homes, to help prepare food: a dinner (all are invited to this communal meal the evening they arrive), a light breakfast, portable lunches. We will also hope for a couple volunteers with cars willing to escort the riders to their next destination, Waterloo.

WANT TO RIDE? Join the Rector for part of the day, from Algona to Mason City! Please speak with her if you are interested.
