Plastic 1/72nd scale Anglo-Saxon figures by Revell. They used to
be based for WRG's DBx rules, but I recently rebased them individually for skirmish games. The bases are US pennies that were covered
with beach sand then painted and highlighted to bring out the detail. I've come to prefer sand over foam flocking for
figures that are individually based as it seems a lot more durable. The penny adds a bit of heft to the light plastic
figure. This is just a small selection from the group of 40 figures.
The following pictures are 28mm Dark Ages figures from Gripping
Beast. Only a few peasants so far, but Vikings, Saxons, and livestock are on the way, so stayed tuned.
With these figures, I've returned to my original painting style; I used
a white undercoat instead of black with white drybrushing. This seems to make the colors brighter on these larger figures.
These figures were painted entirely with acrylics (Ceramcoat, FolkArt, Americana, and Howard Hues). I've really been
enjoying painting these! (N.B.: the pictures of the individual figures do not open as a larger picture in a separate
browser window.)
Here's the whole group standing in front of a Gripping Beast resin dwelling.
There are more buildings on the way, too.

| This figure is 75mm tall from the horses's hooves to man's eye. |
Above and below: Starlux toy soldiers from France. These are hard plastic
toy soldier that I painted several years ago for a game I was designing. I decided to paint them more in the toy soldier style.
