Marlo Swenson, Machinist Mate, was one of my best buddies aboard the LAWS. He is from Aberdeen, SD and I have seen him once since we got out of the Navy. We are pictured in front of the deck house super structure with more Naval artwork. In this case it is Lady Luck setting in a champagne glass.
The picture to the right is of Calvin Kreid and me (I'm on the left). As far as I know he last lived in Potlatch, ID. I am not sure but he probably had an EM 3rd the same as I. We are standing in front of the 5-inch forward gun turret. This entire turret turns hydraulically and the gun of course raises and lowers making precise aiming a reality.
