About Elisabeth Elliot:
Her parents were missionaries was in Belguim where she was born. Elisabeth was born to
a family of four brothers and one sister. When only a few months old, her family moved to the United States and lived
in Germantown, near Philadelphia. Her family stayed in Philadelphia, and later New Jersey, unitl she attended
Wheaton Colleged. She studied classical Greek at Wheaton College where she met her soon-to-be husband Jim Elliot.
They were married in 1953 in Quito and worked together. Jim Elliot had always hoped to bring the Gospel
to an unreached tribe. He and four other missionaries entered Auca Territory. This was an unreached tribe, a fierce
group that no one had been able to meet and live. They first made contact on 1/6/1956. Only two days later, the
Waorani returned and killed all five miiionaries. Their daughter Valerie was a mere 10 months old when her father was
killed. Their life story became a movie, released January 20, 2006, and entitled "End of the Spear." This movie
is the story of her husband Jim and the other missionarys who were killed by the Waorani in 1956.
Elisabeth later married Addison Leitch who is a professor of theology at Gordon Conwell Seminary in Massachusetsw.
However, Leitch died in 1973 and she subsequently married Thomas Howard who is also an author. Elisabeth Elliot is an
