Read the Word!

Verses for Study!

"I love those who love me, and those who seek me early and diligently shall find me."

Proverbs 8:17 Amp

"He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will  love him, and will manifest myself to him."

John 14:21 KJV

"And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him."

Hebrews 11:6 NIV

I urge you to make a commitment today.  From this day forth, read the Bible like it is for the first time. Read it in faith, that it says exactly what it means.  And that you can be all that it says you can be.  For you can only please God through faith.  And faith comes by hearing the Word of God.  (Romans 10:17)  You only have faith when you believe what God says and act upon it.

"God's dream for humanity is recorded in the Bible book of Genesis.  His plan was to reproduce Himself in Adam and Eve and to have companionship with them.

But their friendship had to be two-way.  God would need to be sure that Adam and Eve wanted Him, like He wanted them.  They were not required or forced to respect Him any more than you are...They were expected to have confidence in what God said and that is all He expects of you and me...That was the original sin--distrusting God's word."

Quote from Dr. T.L. Osborn, "Healing the Sick", Harrison House, 5th Edition, 1992, p, 253.

Are you "born again"?

In reply Jesus declared, “I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.

“How can a man be born when he is old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb to be born!”

Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’  John 3:3-7 NIV

The Apostle John, the disciple Jesus loved, explains or clarifies what being born-again means here:

“Everyone WHO believes (adheres to, trusts, and relies on the fact) that Jesus is the Christ (the Messiah) is a born-again child of God; and everyone who loves the Father also loves the one born of Him (His offspring)…For the (true) love of God is this; that we do His commands (keep His ordinances and are mindful of His precepts and teaching).  And these orders of His are not irksome (burdensome, oppressive, or grievous).   1 John 5:1-3 Amp

Our Bible Study Tools!
(below on this site)

The tools you need for Bible Study are found below.  Give each of the tools a test run.  I have also listed links to several free Bible Studies.   The Bible Toolbox is new and works well. The Bibles on line link is really useful.  Give it a try first and work your way down.

We now have an online bible.  This bible provides daily readings so you can read the bible in a year.  To go there, click Bible Online.

Since November 2005, I have been doing my reading  and studying throught "The Daily Bible" published by Guideposts.  We do recommend this bible for beginning students or maybe even for somewhat more advanced students of the Word.  It has several advantages.  It is chronological making the Word read more like a novel.  And the Word becomes more understandable.  It is divided into 365 daily readings which helps organzie your study.  It is based upon an NIV translation.  And most importantly, there are brief commentaries that put the day's reading in perspective.  These commentaries have helped me gain perspective and understanding.  We recommend products only because we have tried them and found them to be good to excellent.

You may find this book at Guideposts (Link:  http://www.guideposts.org/_lp/index.asp or Amazon.com.  It is around $20.00.

The tools are here.  You need to add a humble attitude and a willingness to learn.  Being 'humble' is really only a willingness to admit you don't know everything and need to learn from those who know more.  I suggest prayer before study and that you ask the Holy Spirit to help you understand what you need to learn.  Pray and ask God to give you revelation knowledge.  And believe, as you ask, that you receive revelation and the Word will come alive for you.

Read a translation you enjoy and can understand.  It would be very difficult to go wrong.  Our family oftens reads the NIV or NLT.  More recently, we have been reading the  Amplified Bible.
