"and I will put enmity between thee (Satan) and the woman, and between thy seed
and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel."
It’s news I’m most proud
to proclaim, this extraordinary Message of God’s powerful plan to rescue everyone who trusts him, starting with Jews
and then right on to everyone else! God’s way of putting people right shows up in the acts of faith, confirming what
Scripture has said all along: “The person in right standing before God by trusting him really lives.”
Paul, Romans 1:16-17 (The Message)
For Jesus (Messiah, Anointed One, Christ) said:
If
anyone acknowledges me publicly here on earth, I will openly acknowledge that person before my Father in heaven.

In our study, we will consider scripture, history, commentary and prophecy (found in Genesis).
Commentary is opinion, history has occurred, scripture is truth and prophecy will be or already has been fulfilled.
We begin with the belief scripture is truth. What is prophecy? Click http://home.rconnect.com/~coffeyhome/id25.html
In The Beginning!
In the first pages of Genesis, God introduced himself and described
how He created the heavens and the Earth. This first chapter is all about God; His name
is used 32 times. He created a stable and dependable universe that He said is "good."
We will learn later in
the Word that Christ was with the Father in the creation of everything. We will talk about patterns and ages of the world
(as described in Genesis) and show the interrelationship between Genesis, the Old Testament and the New Testament.
The biblical account of creation
was written by Moses who wrote the first five chapters of our Bible. Moses didn't learn this account from other people;
God gave Moses revelation knowledge regarding the creation.
It is impossible to imagine the beauty of this creation (the universe)
in all its newness and perfection. In the Garden, (Paradise)
there is everything Adam needs, except for Eve who will be with him shortly.
Adam walked in the
Garden with God.This is the perfect will of God.
This is what God wanted for us! Then was the hightest state man has ever enjoyed. It is where we can return through
Jesus who is: the way, the truth and the life. (John 14:6) and the "narrow gate."
Matthew 7:13
We currently live in His
permissive will. But the perfection of the Garden is what He wanted for us.And what we have lost we will, in the fullness of time, regain.
This is God's story of
how He created the Earth and then chose a special people to worship Him.And
how He has adopted Gentiles (everyone who is not Hebrew or Jewish) into His family through Jesus. The Bible tells the full story. We will just talk about parts
of it here.
In Genesis 1, we learn God is the creator and external or separate
from His creation. He is eternal in nature and in control of his creation.Because He chose to create us, we learn we have value. He
tells us we are more important to Him than trees, birds or any other aspect of what He created. God said we humans are
made in "our image, in our likeness" and we are given dominion over it all. Gen 1:26
We see that God spoke the world into existence. From this
we learn that words, even our words, have power.
The unknown author of Hebrews speaks to the creation:
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Indeed, by faithour ancestors received
approval. By
faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was made from things that are not
visible.11:1-3 NRSV

Commentary on your worth!
From T.L. Osborn:
“You are created in God’s image to share His life,
love, purpose and creative plan. You are therefore infinitely valuable to Him.
He is saying to you, right now:
“I love you.I created My best when I created you.I paid a price for you,
and you are worth all I ever paid for you.I have destined My best for You.”(Gen 1:27) & (Gen 5:12-2)
God made nothing inferior. He is first class all the way.He created you unique. You are exceptional—one-of-a-kind.
Before you were born, you existed in God’s mind.He knew this world would need you at this time (emphasis mine). He planned you with a special purpose that no one but you could fulfill because no
one on earth could do what you are here to do.
Your God-given value does not depend on special genes from superior
parents.Your worth before God is not measured by your assets, the color of your
skin, super intelligence or formal education.
All sorts of miracles start happening when you discover and accept
your value and your potential.
The Bible says, You are God’s workmanship. (Eph 2:10)
The
Lord made people a little lower than God, and crowned them with glory and honor (Ps 8:5)The original Hebrew word used is “Elohim”—God, as used in Gen 1:1)
The bottom line of positive and stable self-esteem is when you
can say:
I accept the value that God has put on me.”

House Publishers, 5th Edition, 1992, pp 249-250.
God formed Adam from the dust of the ground and breathed 'life'
into the man’s nostrils, the “spirit of life, and man became a living being.”Genesis 2:7 (Amp) God gave animals, plants, etc life but did not breath the spirit
of life into them. The Genesis record indicates God said let us make Adam in our image, after our likeness.Paul tells us:
“So
it is written: “The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam, (Christ) a life-giving spiriit.
. .The first man (Adam) was of the dust of the earth, the second man (Jesus) from heaven. As was the earthly man, so are those
who are of the earth; and as is the man from heaven, so also are those who are of heaven. And just as we have borne the likeness
of the earthly man, so shall we bear the likeness of the man from heaven.”1 Cor 15:45-49 (NIV)
Adam was made outside the Garden. The Garden was made and God then placed Adam in the Garden.
God blessed the 7th day and rested.Adam was given dominion over the Earth. This
is a responsibility for mankind to be good stewards of the Earth. But we should
worship the Creator rather than that what was created.
There are two trees in
the Garden, the “tree of life” and the “tree
of knowledge of good and evil.”John tells us of the
“tree of life” in Revelation:
“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give
the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.”Revelation 2:7 (NIV)
The tree of life is the promise of the seed, (Jesus) and the Genesis
record will talk further about this in the next few paragraphs.Eve is created,
within the Garden, from Adam.Eve was created last and was the
crown of God's creation.Marriage is discussed; It is between Adam and Eve, one
man and one woman. This is a sacred institution established by God with His blessing.
"As
for God, his way is perfect;
the word of the Lord is flawless.
He is a shield
For all who take refuge in him."
Psalm 18:30
Litany for the Trinity
We want to tie the Old Testament to the New. We begin with this litany
regarding the Trinity.
God the Father created us. God the Son restores us by His blood. And God the Holy Spirit re-creates us day
by day into what God wants us to be.
God the Father formed us out of dust. God the Son transformed us by His grace into God's beloved children.
And God the Holy Spirit reforms and informs us so that we can serve the Lord.
God the Father said, "Let there be light!" God the Son said, "I am the Light." And God the Holy Spirit enlightens
everyone with the truth of the Gospel.
God the Father said, "Be fruitful!" God the Son said, "If anyone remains in me and I in him, he will bear much
fruit." And the fruits of the Spirit, which are given to us are: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
God the Father rested on the seventh day of creation. God the Son said, "Come to me, all you who are weak and heavy-laden
and I will give you rest." And God the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, has come to bring us peace. Praise God the
father, God His Son and God the Holy Spirit.
Verses related to Genesis Chapter
one:
John 1:3 (NIV): "Through him (Jesus)
all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made."
Colossians 1:15-16 (NLT) “Christ
is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before God made anything at all and is supreme over all creation.Christ is the one through whom God created everything in heaven and earth. He made
the things we can see and the things we can’t see …”
Ephesians 3:9-11 (NLT) “I (Paul) was
chosen to explain to everyone this plan that God, the Creator of all things, had kept secret from the beginning. God’s
purpose was to show his wisdom in all its rich variety to all the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms. They will
see this when Jews and Gentiles are joined together in his church. This was his plan from all eternity, and it has now been
carried out through Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Marriage was God's idea from the beginning:
"Didn’t the Lord make you one with your
wife? In body and spirit you are his. And what does he want? Godly children from your union. So guard your heart; remain loyal
to the wife of your youth. “For I hate divorce!” says the Lord, the God of Israel. “To divorce your wife
is to overwhelm her with cruelty,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. “So guard your heart; do not be unfaithful
to your wife.”Malachi 2:15-16 (NLT)
