"Thy word is a lamp
unto my feet and a light unto my path."
Psalm 119:105 KJV
The Bible is God's love letter to you. It is His inspired
Word. The Bible is full of word pictures that portray meaning clearly. This is the only book God left us, so it
must be all we need. It is what He has given us so that we may come to know Him. It is about how to have a relationship
with Him and about how to have relationships with others, including family, friends and community. The Word will help
you establish a relationship with the loving Father through his Son. An eternal destiny and home.
The Bible is still relevent today. Studying the Bible will benefit you
in countless ways. Get the Word into your mind and heart and let it do a work in you. Be saved in the Lord.
Become a better parent. Learn to be a better husband or wife. Find out what it means to be a friend. Jonathon
was a friend to King David. Read their story and learn from it. The Bible is also a book of biography. See
how David learned to live before God. Read about the faith of Abraham and see what happened. Read about Jacob
and his life. There are many people in the world like Jacob. But read his story and see how God changed him.
But most importantly, every book in the Bible speaks directly about Jesus.
When you read your Bible, look for Jesus. You will find him there, in each and every chapter. In Genesis,
He is the "Seed" of the woman. In Exodus, He is the "Passover Lamb." In Isaiah, Jesus is the "Prince of Peace."
When we get to the New Testament, in Matthew we learn Jesus is the "Messiah." Or we will find Jesus as the "Shepard"
in the Psalms. And in the gospel of John we will see Jesus is the "Son of God." But whereever you read, you will, if
you look, find Jesus. Keep Him in mind as you read through the Word. At the top of this page you will see Jesus
described at the "light" and "lamp" to guide us.
But the
fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
Paul
(Gal 5:22-23)
